Join the Frank O’Malley Legacy Society.
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Frank O’Malley Legacy Society, honoring the enduring vision of Frank O’Malley, whose leadership transformed opportunities for young people in Grand Rapids. In 1938, as Police Superintendent, O’Malley responded to rising juvenile arrests—147 youth in a single year—and strained relationships between youth and law enforcement. By partnering with community members to create a safe, engaging space for youth, he helped spark a remarkable shift: within a year, juvenile arrests dropped to just four. That effort grew into Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth and later the Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids.
As the Frank O’Malley Legacy Society begins, it offers a meaningful opportunity for supporters to become founding members by including the organization in their estate plans. Through bequests, trusts, and other planned gifts, these early commitments will help ensure that future generations of youth continue to have access to life-changing programs and opportunities—carrying O’Malley’s legacy forward for years to come.
