The Background Check

The continued safety of our Club members is of the utmost importance. Therefore, in keeping with the national policy of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, every adult staff and volunteer member is subject to a criminal background check prior to beginning the volunteer or employment period.

Once you have submitted your background check clearance files, our community engagement coordinator will begin processing them.

Handbook & Orientation

Next, schedule a virtual volunteer orientation session through the VolunteerMatters portal. Volunteers will receive the Volunteer Handbook and discuss proper practices while in the Club while meeting with the community engagement coordinator virtually.

Placement

After completion of the Volunteer Orientation, sign up for your first day and tour through the VolunteerMatters portal. On your first day, you will first meet with the community engagement coordinator for a tour and staff introductions before beginning your first shift as a volunteer.

Become a Donor

Every child deserves a fair chance in life. Your donation helps Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids make a difference for youth around our community.
